The Black Forest offers a lot of variety to experienced hikers and a perfect start to beginners of this outdoor activity. Different levels of difficulty, gradients and routes are available, making hiking in the Black Forest a welcome combination of recreation, sport and nature watching. You can start right from our door. Hiking maps and information material are available from us, and we are happy to help and advise. If time allows we accompany you to a guided hike to your liking.
To give you an idea: The hiking region Hochschwarzwald extends around the Feldberg. A route with great views of the Schluchsee awaits you along the “Jägersteig” trail. The Gorge of Wutach, known as the Grand Canyon of the Black Forest, offers a touring experience that you will never forget. On a panoramic circular route from St. Märgen to St. Peter, you will get to know the monastic culture and the history of clocks in the Black Forest. And these are just a few of the countless possibilities.

Here in the Black Forest, many natural lakes, outdoor & indoor pools offer the opportunity for fun, sports and recreation in and on the water. Our insider tip for the summer: the beach at the pittoresque small lake “Windgfällweiher”. Or the outdoor pool with a view of the Alps in Lenzkirch-Kappel. Regardless of the weather, you can relax all year round at the Radon Revitalbad in Menzenschwand or in the Badeparadies Schwarzwald in Titisee. And best of all: the red Hochschwarzwald Card gives you free admission almost everywhere.

Cozy and family-friendly: the small and the large Kuhberg lift in our village of Saig. The Kaltenbach Ski School offers on-site ski lessons as well as a ski and toboggan rental.
If you like it sportier and more lively, you are in good hands on the Feldberg mountain. Sunny ski slopes, ski and snowboard schools, the “badenova snowpark Feldberg” and various restaurants make your day in the winter sports center Feldberg a lasting experience. The slopes are well prepared and are located at an altitude between 950 and 1,400 m above sea level. Some of them are artificially snowed. With our red Hochschwarzwald Card you can use all the lifts for free every day.

With an e-bike, you have the built-in “portion tailwind”, with which you can master even more demanding tours in the Black Forest. By the way: With the red Hochschwarzwald Card you have the possibility to rent an e-bike for 3 hours free of charge on each of your stay days. If you want to travel more than 3 hours, you only pay 10 € per bike.

Being active makes you happy! On cross-country ski tracks with qualified, different aspiration profiles, professionals, hobby athletes or beginners will always find new routes to enjoy winter sports. Only a few steps apart from our hotel, you find 2 prepared skiing trails, and many more in the surrounding villages. Free of charge you can rent a set of cross-country skis including sticks and boots each day with the Hochschwarzwald-Card.

Sporty ascents and fast descents: the Black Forest is perfect for mountain biking. Active vacationers enjoy the natural trails and the steep paths. Let off steam on the exciting mountain bike tours – on your own or with our tour guide, where you can also reserve the right bikes.
